Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko, Chairmain of Kharkiv Regional Council, and Oleksandr Skakun, Acting Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, had a meeting with Pier Francesco Zazo, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Ukraine.

The Italian delegation visiting Kharkiv region included Enrico Barbato, Deputy Head of Mission, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Italian Republic to Ukraine and Edoardo Crisafulli, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Ukraine. 

The partied discussed possible directions for cooperation between Italy and Kharkiv region. In particular, they were talking about trade relations, common projects in STEM and IT subjects, energy development, establishment of transregional ties, cultural exchange 

As Pier Francesco Zazo stated, he was visiting Kharkiv for the first time and planning to have a series of meetings, including visit to Kharkiv Chamber of Commerce and Trade.

The Ambassador said, “Kharkiv is a powerful center of culture and industry, and our mission is to persuade Italian businessmen to come to Ukraine and enter into cooperation. It is also important to open the Honorary Consulate in Kharkiv and the region. There are a few candidates for the position of the Honorary Consul, but I would like to receive proposals related to consulship from the regional authorities. In addition, it would be advisable to choose a sister town in Italy for Kharkiv region.”

According to his words, priority areas of cooperation between the regions can be agriculture, renewable energy, IT, aerospace, infrastructure projects.

When describing situation in Kharkiv region, Oleksandr Skakun, Acting Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, noted a stable development of the region.

He said, “Kharkiv is really a powerful industrial and scientific center.  We respecting domestic investors and at the same time we are also aimed at attracting foreign investments. I am ready to be a so-called “investment nanny” for every Italian investor in the region. There are many points of contact for developing mutually beneficial relations; therefore I believe we can move to practical substantive negotiations. In particular, if you plan to hold a large-scale meeting and discuss renewable energy, we are ready to arrange location for such meeting in Kharkov.”
