On the eve of the professional holiday of journalists, the Journalist Day, which is celebrated on June 6, there was a solemn reception by Sergii Chernov, Chairman of Kharkiv Regional Council at Kharkiv Press-Center. The awards have been presented there to the best representatives of this profession and to the winners of the Regional Contest of Journalistic WorksSuccess stories of communities”.

“On the eve of the professional holiday of media people, I would like to thank all of you and everyone in particular, for by your publications and airwaves you increased a number of positive, useful and educative content which is lacking nowadays in mass media. I wish you to have your personal success stories – both professional and personal ones – and these success stories will be more than defeats which are, famously, essential as well.

I wish you far-sightedness and objectiveness. Let them guide your texts, publications, footages and airwaves, for it is very necessary not only for each of us but for the whole Ukrainian society,” – Sergii Chernov, Chairman of the Regional Council addressed those present at the reception.

He believes, “Many journalists became experts in terms of community development. The authorities listen out to your publications and even are guided by them when making management decisions. You got deeply involved with a wide variety of community life, starting from the issue of implementation of the best local practices, budgeting, energy saving and ending with youth leisure. Thus, any subject is studied thoroughly and reflects in and TV spots and footages, posts on the Internet, columns of printed publications. This can serve like a bridge between people and authorities. Indeed, there is a lot of positive things around us and it is worthy telling about it: success of people, community background, perspectives for the young people, etc.”

Dmytro Kovalov, winner of the contest “Success stories of communities”, told: “My work has won in nomination “Best radio material”. The main message of the material is like this: if one community is unable to do anything independently, it can be done by uniting efforts of few communities. So, my story line tells just about such an effective cooperation at Starosaltivska community.”

Alona Nahaievschuk, winner of nomination “Best online publication”, told that her publication covers ecological subject, namely, the disposition of garbage in Merefa community. “The contest “Success stories of communities” is a good opportunity to tell how communities in Kharkiv region solve ecological problems. In particular, how people in Merefa sort garbage and deliver it to the Kharkiv enterprise specializing in recycling of secondary raw materials. I believe, this experience is very useful for all communities in our region.”
